Details: Sandalwood oil is a kind of essential oil which is obtained in the course of Steam distillation of chips and billets cut from heartwood of Sandalwood tree. Botanically, Sandalwood is known as Santalum album and is commonly known as Chandan. This essential oil is characterized by sweet, rich and woody aroma; it is transparent colored liquid which is quite expensive. Sandalwood tree is a member of Santalaceae family and is also renowned as White Sandalwood, Mysore Sandalwood, Sandal, and Chandan. The parasitic evergreen tree obtains nutrients from several other species of tree roots and grows in dry and rocky soils
