Frankincense is more than a fragrance used in reference to myrrh during Christian holidays. It’s been used for many years in a variety of ways from incense burners to cosmetics. It’s been found in some of the remains of ancient civilizations including Anglo-Saxon and Egyptian. Frankincense oil can provide numerous health benefits. It can help reduce stress, boost immunity, fight cancer, improve skin health and promote memory function.
Ways to Use Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense has an aroma that is quite alluring, but it offers so much more than that. It’s often used in aromatherapy and holistic medicinal practices. The essential oil has some very powerful properties that offer a variety of health benefits. Some of the most popular ways to use this oil include:
Recipes Using Frankincense EO
Body Butter to Reduce Scars
Melt the shea butter or coconut oil until it becomes liquid. It should not become so hot it could burn you. Add the essential oils and stir to combine them. You can use it right away on a scar, but if you’d like to create a cream that is shelf-stable, put the mixture in the refrigerator for a few minutes until it is cool. Then using a hand mixer set on high speed, whip it into a cream. Store it in glass containers at room temperature.
Relaxing Facial Cream
Use this as a natural night cream that also helps you fall asleep. Apply it to your face to help clear up breakouts or blemishes. You can also use it as a way to boost skin health.
Make sure the coconut oil is soft. Heat it first if you need to. Then add the other oils and stir it all up. Use it to spread on your face or body. Store your night cream in a glass container.
If you suffer from a headache, try making this blend and applying it topically to the temples and neck.
