Whether or not you are a real “morning person” you are likely to benefit from the boost diffusing essential oils have to offer. Various oils have properties that provide different effects such as energy boosting, calming, healing, or stress relief. Choosing oils to use or diffuse is as simple as deciding the effect you want to achieve. There is a wide range of oils good for helping you wake up and start your morning energized.

Energizing Oils

Remember that each of us is individual in our needs and responses to the oils we use. You may want to experiment with a few oils or oil blends to find out which ones work best for getting you moving in the mornings.  What works to energize one person may have a calming effect on another. Since our body chemistries differ, the chemical makeups of oils can stimulate, calm or focus a person. Once you find what works best for you, create your own blend using 5 to 7 drops of your favorite oils in the diffuser.

Blend of the Top Three Energizing Oils

Some of the most popular energizing oils include grapefruit, lemon, orange, spearmint, bergamot, peppermint, cedarwood, fir, rosemary, basil, and frankincense. You might start by combining your favorites out of these energy-boosting varieties. Three, in particular, are good for helping you get motivated and going in the morning. For your first experiment, you might want to try one drop each of peppermint, wild orange, and lime. This blend offers an uplifting, pure aroma that creates a burst of energy. Here’s why these three oils make a great combination.

Peppermint essential oilcan help improve mental focus and promote clear breathing. This provides a direct boost to energy levels.

Orange essential oilis a mood lifter as well as a powerful purifying agent. It is uplifting to both body and mind.

Lime essential oilpositively affects your mood with its refreshing and stimulating properties. It is often used as a topical cleaner. Its aroma promotes emotional well-being and balance.

Energizing Morning Blends

We are all different and our morning routines can vary greatly. Here are a few essential oil blends to help you get a healthier, more energized start. Try some of these favorite blends to see which one works best for you. Or change it out each morning for something new. You might also consider adding a drop or two of anti-anxiety or focusing oils to the blend. These oils include ylang ylang, cypress, vetiver, basil, patchouli, rose, geranium, lemongrass, marjoram, and lavender. Once you know what blends or oils work best for you, it’s a good idea to prepare the diffuser before going to bed at night. This way all you have to do is plug in as soon as you get up in the morning.

Individual Oils for Morning Energy

Whether you feel like a zombie in the morning or just need some help getting up to get your kids off to school, diffusing oils can help. With a little bit of experimentation, you will find the oils and blends that work to motivate you. You may like to use a suggested blend or try a few individual oils to let your favorites emerge. Here are a few of the best single oils to try and suggestions on how to use them.

  • Rosemary essential oil can be combined with a carrier oil and applied directly to your skin for a pick-me-up. This oil can be beneficial for fighting fatigue, so it’s a great option for morning energy. Rosemary EO can be diffused or use it on diffuser jewelry throughout the day to keep your energy levels up. It pairs nicely with basil and lavender. For an added kick, mix eucalyptus with rosemary.
  • Basil essential oil can be a part of a beautiful morning. It stimulates a chemical reaction in the brain and body that helps you concentrate and focus better. On those super groggy mornings, combine it with a carrier oil and apply it to the temples to help you wake up. Basil blends nicely with other energizing oils like lemon and lime. It’s good for easing aches, relieving tension and fatigue.
  • Ginger essential oil provides an energy lift. Once you realize the power of this oil, you may want to carry it with you all day for those much-needed energy lifts. Diffusing ginger EO in the morning can help you get up and going. To create a potent, energetic blend, combine it with lime, orange or ylang ylang.
  • Cinnamon essential oil may sound a little Christmas-y, and even though it may be commonly associated with warm, homemade rolls it can stimulate and energize you. Cinnamon EO encourages more blood flow to the brain and increases circulation, so it can keep you awake and focused. Diffuse or inhale it to reap its benefits first thing in the morning. If you typically prefer citrusy scents mix it with grapefruit essential oil for a surprisingly uplifting effect.
