Ways to Use Essential Oils to Relieve Foot Pain

 Soothing Essential Oil Foot Bath

One effective way to relieve pain, swelling, and discomfort in your feet is to soothe them in a foot bath. The warm water and healing properties of the oils combined can provide refreshing relief. You can use this foot soak two or three times a day if you need to. Here is a simple essential oil foot bath you can make:


  1. Use a foot spa massager or just fill a foot tub or container with warm water. Make it warm, but not hot.
  2. Add ¼ cup of Epsom’s salt.
  3. Add 10 drops of your choice of essential oils. You may choose a couple to blend together for your foot soak.
  4. Soak your feet for about 20 minutes, or until the water is no longer warm.

 Essential Oil Foot Rub

You can apply this foot rub to your feet, have someone else massage it in for you, or use a foot massage roller. Even though you can use it any time throughout the day to provide relief for your painful feet, it’s ideal if you can rub it on, put socks on, and then go to bed. Combine these oils in a 4-ounce amber glass dropper bottle:


  • 10 drops of peppermint EO
  • 10 drops of birch EO
  • 10 drops of helichrysum EO
  • 10 drops of vetiver EO
  • 3 tablespoons of grapeseed oil or other carrier oil of your choice


Powerful Essential Oil Foot Massage Blend

Add the following oils to a 4-ounce amber glass dropper bottle. Use it to massage just the affected areas of your feet, or massage it into the entire foot. Use it once or twice daily to provide relief. 

  • 20 drops of basil EO
  • 20 drops of marjoram EO
  • 20 drops of cypress EO
  • 5 drops of wintergreen EO
  • 10 drops of frankincense EO
  • 10 drops of helichrysum EO


After the essential oils are in the bottle, top it off with fractionated coconut oil or other carrier oil This makes about a 5% dilution.
